Oasis Belgium is passionate about making a more just and equitable world. As Christians we believe that all people are made in the image of God and so we want to see everyone reach the potential and dignity which is their right.

We are particularly concerned about human trafficking – a modern day form of slavery which affects more than 2 million women, children and men every year. These people are trafficked into every country in the world, including ours. The root causes of people falling into the hands of traffickers are poverty, social exclusion and discrimination against women. One of the biggest ways of removing the causes is to give all children, boys and girls a longer, higher quality education.

We also want to help to tackle the demand that fuels this terrible trade. We are concerned that everyday products such as chocolate are cheap in this country because they are produced in countries like Côte d’Ivoire by trafficked children. Oasis Belgium will be campaigning to end such abuse and to encourage people to buy fairer products.

We are also aware that hundreds of children are trafficked into this country to beg and hundreds of women are forced into prostitution. We want to act, together with other organisations to end this exploitation.
